Lotus driver killed in accident
A 28-year-old Lotus driver was killed when his car and a Mercedes crashed in Essex on Tuesday night.

The accident was at the junction of the A1017 and the B1054 at New England just before 2200 BST.

An ambulance service spokesman said the man who died, from Newmarket, Suffolk, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 70-year-old man from Great Cornard, a passenger in the Mercedes, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, to be treated for a broken collar bone.

His son, who was driving the Mercedes, was not hurt in the crash.
