Bus carrying 60 children crashes

A bus carrying about 60 schoolchildren has crashed into a ditch in Essex.

The bus slid into the ditch on Friday afternoon at Shopland Road, near the junction of with Barling Road, in Great Wakering, near Southend.

An Essex Police spokesman said that the crash happened at slow speed and as a result the children escaped without serious harm.

An Ambulance Service spokesman said three girls suffered minor injuries but did not need to go to hospital.
