Airport pay strike threat averted
The threat of strike action by baggage handlers at Stansted Airport ended on Monday when workers accepted a new pay deal.

Members of the GMB, employed by Groundstar, had threatened to walk out on Thursday.

But after more talks, they voted by 3-1 to resolve the dispute.

Planned strike action had earlier been suspended to allow the talks between union officials and employers to go ahead.

Two weeks ago union officials said an improved offer had been made by Groundstar.

The unions had asked for an extra 1% on top of a 3.75% pay offer.

Groundstar services nearly 200 flights a day for airlines such as Easyjet and Ryanair.
