Fatal crash driver charged
A motorist has been charged with causing the death of a teenager following a car crash in Essex.

The 36-year-old was driving a vehicle at Vicarage Hill in South Benfleet on 26 July last year when he was involved in a head-on collision.

Kate Donnelly, 19, of Halifax, West Yorkshire, who had been a passenger in one of the vehicles was taken to Southend Hospital but later died.

Five other people were injured.

Essex Police said a man from Benfleet has been charged with causing death by careless driving while under the influence of alcohol.

He was released on bail and will appear before magistrates in Southend on 15 January.
