Firefighters have been called to a number of suspected arson attacks

The seventh heath fire in Dorset in a month was put out by firefighters in what they suspect to be arson.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service (DFRS) was alerted to the incident on Turbary Common at about 2030 BST by a member of the public.

Firefighters said the fire affected a 20 sq-m area of heath and scrub, which took about an hour to damp down.

It is the seventh heath fire in the east of the county in less than a month.

On Thursday firefighters dealt with a fire on West Moors Plantation near Ferndown which was also thought to have been started deliberately.
