In Bournemouth, the roof of a car parking area of student accommodation was blown off. Nobody was hurt.

The Environment Agency said no homes were flooded. It has warned people to avoid the coast due to high tides.

A spokesman said on Saturday: "There have been no reports of flooding around the coast and in our rivers.

"However, we are urging people to stay away from the coast as the tides are peaking at the moment.

"It is very treacherous around the coast."
