Speed camera destroyed by arson

A tyre was set alight and put on top of the speed camera

A speed camera was destroyed after a tyre was put on top of it and set on fire in Dorset.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire, which happened at about 0200 GMT, and is being treated as arson.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service was called to the Longham area of Ringwood Road after it received a call from a passer-by.

A spokeswoman for Dorset Police said: "A tyre had been set alight and placed on top of the camera."
