A teenager charged with attempted murder after a man was left unconscious with life-threatening head injuries has been remanded in custody.

Nicolas Verron, 25, from Bournemouth, was attacked in an alleyway in Roumelia Lane, in Boscombe, on 4 July.

A 17-year-old, who appeared at Poole Youth Court on Thursday and did not enter a plea, was remanded to appear at Winchester Crown Court on 16 July.

Mr Verron is in a critical condition at Southampton General Hospital.

Police had been looking for a group of about six to eight youths seen in the area at the time of the attack.
