Driver hurt in police car crash

A driver has been seriously hurt after his overturned car struck a police vehicle in Dorset.

The 59-year-old male driver's Audi A4 overturned at Puddletown Road near Wareham on Tuesday.

He tried to take evasive action but failed and crashed into a police Ford Focus travelling in the opposite direction, a spokesman said.

The Audi driver was treated in hospital for serious shoulder injuries. The two policemen in the car were unhurt.

Officers have appealed for information and are keen to hear from anyone whose "attention was drawn to the manner of driving of either vehicle before the collision".
