Music venue evacuated over fire

Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) was evacuated when a fire alarm was set off by a burnt out light fitting.

About 16 firefighters tackled the blaze in the ground floor section of the building just before 0600 BST.

The alarm was triggered by smoke coming from the faulty light fitting. Everyone inside managed to leave the building and no-one was injured.

A spokesman for the centre said it was a "small problem" and they would be open as normal throughout the day.
