Lightning causes campsite blaze

A blaze swept through a Dorset campsite overnight after lightning struck an electrical pole and set fire to caravans and other buildings.

More than 40 firefighters were called to Norden Farm near Corfe Castle shortly after midnight.

A Dorset fire service spokesman said the fire spread to several caravans, the trees above them and other buildings, which were destroyed.

Only one of the caravans was occupied and those inside escaped unhurt.
