Plans to preserve island heritage

Corfe Castle
Corfe Castle is one of many heritage sites on the Isle of Purbeck

New plans have been unveiled to protect and enhance the rich heritage of a Dorset peninsula.

Purbeck Heritage Committee hopes the five-year plan will secure the natural beauty and heritage of the island.

Several organisations will carry out the work, with contributions ranging from volunteer time, financial support, specific skills and advice.

Councillor Nick Cake said the would would help protect the quality of life of Purbeck's residents and visitors.

He said the work would ensure the conservation and protection of Purbeck's heritage for future generations.

Residents and organisations have been urged to have their say on the plans in the summer.
