Police link rural home burglaries

Detectives in Dorset have said there may be a link between three burglaries at rural homes all on the same day.

The thefts occurred in Winterborne Abbas and Bere Regis between 1800 GMT and 1900 GMT on Thursday.

Household items, including cameras and jewellery were taken, although two men were disturbed during the Bere Regis burglary and they escaped empty handed.

Police want to trace a woman seen running to the back of a house in Winterborne Abbas which was burgled.

Det Con Ed Meanwell, of Dorset Police, said: "I'm almost certain that the two burglaries at Winterborne Abbas are connected and it's also quite possible the third burglary is also connected."

The burglaries happened at Grange Farm Cottages, Blacksmith's Piece and Manor Farm Road respectively.

Det Con Meanwell added: "No doubt the thieves used a vehicle of some description which would have been near the homes, either parked up or possibly driving around the area while the burglaries were taking place."

Anyone with any information should contact Dorset Police.
