Eleven people rescued from lift

Eleven people had to be rescued by firefighters after they became stuck in a lift in Dorset.

Emergency crews were called to student halls at Cranborne House near Bournemouth at 0530 GMT.

A spokeswoman said the lift is only supposed to take a maximum of eight people and became lodged.

Firefighters isolated the lift and manually brought it to the ground floor before they opened the doors and released those inside.
