Woman dies in head-on collision

A car driver has died after a head-on collision with a van in which both vehicles burst into flames.

The crash happened on the A354 between Milborne St Andrew and Puddletown in Dorset at 0815 GMT.

The driver of a Renault Clio, thought to be an 18-year-old woman from the Shaftsbury area, died as a result of the collision.

The van driver managed to flee his burning vehicle and was taken to hospital with chest injuries.

The 42-year-old man from Wareham did not suffer life threatening injuries.

The road was closed for almost seven hours while investigations were carried out.
