Bad weather brings road warning

All sailings on Monday to and from Weymouth have been cancelled

Police are advising motorists to avoid journeys if possible as high winds and heavy rainfall sweep across Dorset.

Lying water has been affecting roads across the county with two separate incidents of cars being abandoned at Branksome Chine, near Poole.

A car also became stuck in water at West Bourton while trees have come down and manhole covers lifted.

The Condor Ferries service from Weymouth to the Channel Islands has also been cancelled due to the weather.

Affected passengers are being advised to contact their local Condor office.

Dorset Police said flooding had been reported on the main road at Middle Marsh and at the traffic lights on the A30 in Sherborne.

Bagwell Farm touring park at Weymouth, the A3030 at Caundle Marsh and the A35 at the Baker's Arms, near Bere Regis, are also affected by the heavy rainfall.

A tree has come down in Beechwood Avenue, Bournemouth, and Harman's Cross at Corfe Castle.

A manhole has been lifted by flood waters at Littlemoor Road, Weymouth.
