Man sought over nightclub arson

Police investigating an arson attack on a Dorset nightclub have released CCTV images of a man they want to question.

About 1,000 revellers fled the Opera House, in Boscombe, in the early hours of Saturday 27 September after the fire was discovered in a storeroom.

No one was seriously injured and the fire was quickly extinguished. However, detectives described it as "a very serious and dangerous incident".

The man police are seeking is white, in his early 20s, with short brown hair.

Det Con James Taylor, from Dorset Police, said: "About 1,000 people were in The Opera House at the time of the arson, but fortunately the fire was extinguished without anyone coming to harm.

"This was a very serious and dangerous incident that could have resulted in a much worse outcome, but it was extinguished having caused only minimal damage."

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the man on the night of the fire or recognises him to contact them.
