Driver dies when car flips over

A driver died when his car left the road and flipped over in Dorset.

The Mazda 323 was being driven along Landsdowne Road, Bournemouth, when it crossed the road and mounted a footpath and hit a low wall on Thursday.

The collision caused the vehicle to turn over and come down on its roof before rolling over again to land on its wheels in some bushes.

The male driver from Poole died at the scene. An elderly woman passenger was cut free and taken to hospital.

The 81-year-old from Bournemouth suffered serious head injuries but is in a stable condition.

Police appealed for witnesses.
