Thousands stolen from restaurant

Thieves have stolen several thousand pounds after they broke into a fast-food restaurant in Dorset.

Three burglars forced their way into McDonalds, in Somerford Road, Christchurch, in the early hours before cutting open the safe.

Police said all three suspects were men and they are trying to trace a white Mercedes Sprinter van.

Det Con Steve Pryce, of Dorset Police, said: "I'm keen to hear from anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity."

He added: "The van may have been parked up in an unusual place, or it may have been seen travelling along the roads in the vicinity of McDonalds."

The burglary happened between 0200 BST and 0500 BST.
