Dorset flag designs shortlisted

Dorset flag designs
People can choose from these final four flag designs for Dorset

People have been invited to choose a flag to represent Dorset, which is the only county in south-west England without its own flag.

Four possible designs have been shortlisted for the county.

Previous attempts to choose a flag have lacked support, but with the 2012 Olympics sailing events being held in Weymouth interest for a flag has grown.

Some 29 designs were put forward and people have until Friday 12 September, to choose between the final four.

Graham Bartram, chief vexillologist - flag scholar - of The Flag Institute, said: "It's important that as many people as possible send in their vote so that the flag which eventually represents Dorset is truly chosen by the people of the county."
