Charge over head injury assault

A man was charged with grievous bodily harm after another man was attacked and left with a "very serious head injury".

Dorset Police said the 22-year-old victim was assaulted and fell to the ground near Wiggle in Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, early on Sunday.

He remains in the neurological intensive care unit at Southampton General Hospital where his condition is described as critical but stable.

A 21-year-old man from Andover, Hants, has been charged with GBH with intent.

He was due to appear before Bournemouth magistrates on Tuesday.
