Sandbanks conservation reviewed

Sandbanks
Sandbanks is one of the most expensive areas in the UK

People living in one of the UK's most expensive property areas have been asked for their views on its conservation status.

Poole Borough Council is conducting a public consultation on extending the Sandbanks Conservation Area in Dorset.

Residents can have their say on plans that would ensure future development preserves the appearance of Sandbanks.

The area, which overlooks Poole Harbour, was once named the fourth most expensive in the world.

People will be able to discuss the plans at two public meetings on Friday and Saturday

Councillor Ron Parker, Poole council's cabinet member for local economy, said: "The Sandbanks peninsula is one of the most memorable features of Poole.

"This document will be a useful guide for local residents who would like to change their properties, or others looking to carry out development within Sandbanks, so that plans can be designed to fit in with the character of the area."

Sandbanks is one of 21 conservation areas in Poole and home to the likes of Portsmouth Football Club manager Harry Redknapp.
