Diver passes out at sea and dies

A diver who was found unconscious in the sea off Dorset after surfacing from a dive has died in hospital.

Portland Coastguard scrambled its helicopter to Portland Bill after the man's dive team put out a distress call from their boat Tango.

The man was airlifted to Dorchester Hospital but died shortly afterwards.

A coastguard spokesperson said other divers from Tango were taken back to land by two other dive boats in the area.
