Retro-style beach huts offering panoramic views across Bournemouth's new artificial surf reef are expected to go on sale this year.

The 58 huts, including a penthouse, will be fitted with mains electricity. Some will also have hot and cold running water.

Thirty-one "surf pods" will be sold on a 25-year lease, and the rest reserved for casual hire from the council.

The huts are based in the Boscombe Overstrand building.

They are due to be completed in October, along with the Boscombe Overstrand redevelopment programme, which is part of a £10m seafront regeneration scheme, said Bournemouth Borough Council.

The artificial reef is thought to be Europe's first.
