Tractor and hay destroyed in fire

A tractor and its trailer laden with eight tonnes of baled hay have been destroyed in a fire at a Dorset farm.

Crews were called at 1845 BST on Thursday to reports of the blaze near Hazelbury Bryan, Sturminster Newton.

It took firefighters and the farmer, who used machinery to remove the hay, three-and-a-half hours to get the fire under control.

It is believed a stray spark from a nearby bonfire ignited the hay, a Dorset Fire and Rescue spokesman said.
