Seats will be decided in two local authorities in Dorset

Polls have closed across Dorset in the local elections.

Residents in two authorities in the county are deciding who will represent them on their local council.

Weymouth and Portland council is likely to be keely contested as the borough has been under no overall control since the early 1980s.

Purbeck is likely to be just as closely contested. Meanwhile there are by-elections in the Bournemouth wards of Queen's Park and Winton East.

Across England and Wales about 4,000 seats on 159 councils are up for grabs, along with the London mayoralty and London Assembly.

Polls opened at 0700 BST and closed at 2200 BST.
