Stranded divers saved by warship

A Royal Navy warship came to the aid of four divers stranded in Dorset after the engine of their dive boat failed.

Portland Coastguard was alerted on Saturday to a drifting rigid inflatable boat (RIB) in Weymouth harbour.

The nearby HMS Gleaner, which is a small survey ship, responded and picked up the divers.

Another local boat towed the stricken vessel to shore. The coastguard confirmed none of the divers were injured in the incident.
