Man dies in stationary van crash

A cyclist has died after running into the back of a stationary van in Dorset.

The man, who is thought to be from Bournemouth, collided with the white Vauxhall van in Alder Road in Poole on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the van was waiting at pedestrian lights when the bicycle hit its rear doors. They are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.

The cyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to Southampton Hospital's neurological unit, where he later died.
