Second cliff plunge person dies
Sunday's Anvil Point rescue (from Dorset Police)
The woman left the girl behind on the cliff path
A second person who fell from the cliffs at a Dorset beauty spot at the weekend has died in hospital.

Ivan Lissin, 22, of Hugh Allen Crescent in Oxford, was pulled from the sea at Anvil Point, in Swanage, on Sunday and died from his head injuries on Monday.

Rescuers attending him also tried to save a woman who tumbled from cliffs nearby while out walking with an eight-year-old girl. She later died.

Police appealed for anyone who saw her walk along the cliff to get in touch.

A rescue operation was launched when coastguards and police who were attending to Mr Lissin found the 50-year-old woman, from Bournemouth, had fallen 300m (984ft) away.

She was also taken to Dorset County Hospital, where she later died.

Left girl

Insp Ashley Adams, of Dorset Police, said: "We're looking for witnesses to come forward so that we can piece together her last movements.

"So far, our understanding of what happened is that the victim walked along the cliff path with an eight-year-old girl leaving the Durlston Country Park information centre at about lunchtime.

"About 200m past the Anvil Point lighthouse we believe the woman then left the girl on the path as she walked towards the cliff - the woman then falling onto the rocks below."

The dead woman is described as white, 5ft 2in (1.57m) and of slim build.

She was wearing a pink pashmina headscarf, blue jeans and white trainers.

Mr Lissin died as a result of severe head trauma in Southampton General Hospital and an inquest in his death was opened and adjourned on Tuesday.
