Mystery tower proposal for Dorset
Poole Quay
The landmark would sit on council owned land in Poole
A mysterious "world-class" landmark tower - twice the size of Tyneside's Angel of the North - is being considered for Dorset.

The 147ft (45m) monument would be built on land owned by Borough of Poole council, which is considering the proposal from a private firm.

However no further details of the plan have been released, due to its "commercially-sensitive nature".

Councillors have been presented with a report before assessing its viability.

Jim Bright, strategic director at the council, said: "We have been approached by a private company with an outline proposal to bring a world-class visitor attraction to Poole, which would have significant potential to boost the town's economy and national profile.

"The commercially-sensitive nature of this proposal prevents us from saying any more at this early stage."
