'Weymouth Eye' plans considered
Plans for a 28-metre high observation wheel for a Dorset seaside resort are to be considered.

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council will decide on Wednesday whether to approve the "Weymouth Eye" project for the town's beach.

The wheel would be made up of enclosed pods rotating at slow speeds - similar to the London Eye.

Council officers have recommended giving the wheel a trial until November this year.

The application for the licence has been made by J Holland and Sons Ltd, who are the current tenants of Alexandra Gardens.

They hope to position the attraction on the town beach near the aquarium during the summer.
