New dog control orders will cover a wider area of Purbeck
Dog owners in a scenic part of Dorset have been warned to expect tighter controls on their pets from next year.

People caught failing to clear up the after their dog on the Isle of Purbeck will be given fixed penalty fines of £75 - an increase of £25.

New dog control orders will also be introduced to cover a wider part of the isle including woods, heathland and marshland.

A public consultation period on the new orders will take place in the New Year.

Councillor Nick Cake, Purbeck District Council's environment spokesman, said: "Dog fouling will not be tolerated in Purbeck.

"We hope the introduction of these new orders coupled with the use of fixed penalty notices will encourage more responsible dog ownership."
