Plane safe after lightning strike
The BA plane at Bournemouth
Engineers checked the plane at Bournemouth Airport
A plane has landed safely at Bournemouth Airport after it was hit by lightning in bad weather.

The British Airways flight from Southampton to Glasgow was carrying 41 passengers and four crew when it was redirected to Bournemouth on Monday.

One witness told BBC News there was a burning smell in the cabin. No one is believed to have been injured.

A BA spokesman said engineers were on their way to the scene to check the plane, an Embraer, as a precaution.

If given the all-clear the flight would resume to Scotland as normal, he said.

Emergency crews attended the scene but were stood down soon after arriving.

The flight had been scheduled to leave at 0645 BST.
