The Princess Royal has officially opened a new heart centre at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
Princess Anne was shown around the three wards which make up the Dorset Heart Centre and met patients and some of its 250 staff on Tuesday.
The centre provides specialist cardiac care to one million people across Dorset, Wiltshire and Hampshire.
It provides care for many people who previously had to travel to Southampton or London for treatment.
Cardiologist Adrian Rozkovec said before the visit: "Her Royal Highness will be able to see the difference it [the centre] has made to local patients now that we are able to provide specialised cardiac services that were previously only available outside Dorset."
