The fire in Canford Heath destroyed habitats of rare birds and animals
Fire crews have been battling another heath fire in Bournemouth just days after nearly 100 acres were destroyed by arsonists on Canford Heath.

Dorset Police said the latest fire on Turbary Common, close to Wallisdown Road, was started deliberately.

Officers searched the area after the blaze, which started at lunchtime on Thursday, but did not find anyone.

On Sunday, about 170 firefighters tackled a fire across 200 hectares of land at Canford Heath.

No one was injured in Thursday's fire but Wallisdown Road was closed to traffic for several hours.
