Defects exposed by vehicle checks
One person was arrested and several vehicles taken off the road in a random spot check by police in Dorset.

Of the 66 vehicles that were stopped and checked on the A31 at Ashley Heath, 54% of them had defects.

One driver with a suspected forged driving licence was arrested by officers during the operation.

Nine vehicles were taken off the road and several drivers were issued with fixed penalty notices for defects. Three lorries were overloaded.

A number of lorry drivers had been forced to stop because they were found to have had insufficient rest breaks.
