The public is being warned to stay away from any canister-like objects they find after two marine flares had to be dealt with by bomb disposal experts.
A "suspicious" canister was found on the beach at Friars Cliff in Christchurch, Dorset, on Wednesday.
The 18-inch-long device was labelled "Danger do not touch". It was found to be a marine marker flare.
Later on another one was discovered 300yds (120m) away along the same stretch of beach.
The area was evacuated and the police bomb disposal unit was called in.
