A 66-year-old diver remains missing in the Channel despite a major search being launched on Friday afternoon.
The man from London, who was with the dive boat Skin Deep, which is based in Weymouth, Dorset, disappeared 20 miles north west of Guernsey.
The divers had been diving on the wreck of an old submarine.
The search, which was being coordinated by the French authorities and involved the Portland coastguard helicopter, was called off on Friday night.
Ships in the area have been told to keep a look out and the dive boat has returned to Weymouth.
A French navy helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft were also involved in the search.
