South Devon proposal for £16m recycling plant

Heathfield landfill site near Newton Abbot
Building could start in September

A new £16m recycling plant is planned for south Devon.

Waste management company Viridor has put in two planning applications for the plant at its Heathfield landfill site near Newton Abbot.

The plant will separate household glass, plastic, paper, cardboard and metal cans and commercial waste.

Viridor said it hoped building, which would take 16 months, would start in September if the applications were agreed by Devon County Council.
