Torquay traders to vote on £1.3m improvements

Businesses in the heart of Torquay town centre are being asked to vote on a scheme that could improve the area's commercial fortunes.

If enough traders agree to pay more in business rates, the central area will have more policing, improved marketing and better street cleaning.

Under the plan, firms would contribute 1.5% of their rateable value a year for the next five years.

More than £1.3m will be ring-fenced to deliver the improvements.
