South West Water accused of ignoring leaking sewage

Raw sewage leaking out across common land in Devon is being ignored by South West Water, according to local people.

Great Torrington residents claim sewage spreads across a local footpath when heavy rain lifts manhole covers off drains near the River Torridge.

The town council said it has taken the matter to Ofwat, the water regulator.

But South West Water said it was already working closely with the Environment Agency to find a suitable, cost-effective solution.
