Care home resident, 82, charged with woman's murder

An 82-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman at a Devon care home.

Peter Woodroof has been charged with murdering Ivy Hawken, 92, at Hyne Town House in Strete, where they both lived, on Wednesday.

He is due to appear before Torquay magistrates on Saturday.

Mrs Hawken's family, who were playing cards with her on the night of her death, said they were "devastated" by her death.
