Pedestrian injured in collision

A woman was seriously hurt when she was knocked down by a car in Devon which failed to stop at the scene.

The 36-year-old woman suffered serious injuries to her legs and to one of her arms in the incident at Hatherleigh on Friday afternoon.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, which happened shortly before 1800 GMT.

Officers are particularly interested in speaking to the driver of a blue V-registered Seat Toledo car.

They say the vehicle is likely to have damage to its front nearside.
