Heinz confirms sale of food plant

Heinz employs about 400 people in Devon

Food giant Heinz is to sell its frozen and chilled foods factory in west Devon.

The US-based company confirmed it had agreed the sale of its plant in Okehampton's North Road Industrial Estate, which employs about 315 people.

The company said the newly-formed company Polestar Foods was planning to take over the site and all employees were expected to transfer to it.

Heinz said it was consulting with all staff.
