Crack den closed in seaside town

Police in Bideford have closed down a High Street flat which has been used as a crack den.

The flat was boarded up on Monday afternoon after complaints from neighbours that the address had been the centre of anti-social activity.

The closure order from Barnstaple magistrates means the occupant cannot return to the premises for at least three months.

It is the third address to be closed in the town in 18 months.

Pc Perry Hodgson, from Devon and Cornwall Police, said: "There is action we can take if the community works with us and comes forward.

"They do not have to live with it on their doorstep."
