Allotment call in scarecrow march

A call for more allotments in Totnes sees colourful scarecrows marched through the town

Children in Totnes have marched through the town with scarecrows to call for more allotments.

The children from all classes at the Grove School joined a dancing, singing parade through the town.

It finished at Castle Meadow for judging and prize-giving by singer Billy Bragg.

Totnes Allotment Association has secured 14 plots, but says that it has more than 90 members, all keen to have a patch.

Totnes Town Council has said allotment association members could come forward to point out any possible allotment plots they may have found.
