Patient's call for new treatment

Ms Chouette's liver tumour has responded to the German treatment

A cancer patient from Devon whose tumour has responded to a treatment in Germany would like to see it made available in the UK.

Stephanie Chouette, 35, from Plymstock is suffering from breast cancer which has spread to her liver and lungs.

After her first chemoperfusion treatment in Frankfurt she was told her liver tumour had shrunk by up to 20%.

Ms Chouette and her partner are currently raising money to cover the cost of more treatments.

Direct treatment

"We've got to find a way to bring this treatment back to Britain to the NHS," Ms Chouette told BBC News.

"The NHS has the role of saving its patients and here is a treatment that works."

Debbie Brewer from Plymouth recommended the treatment to Ms Chouette after her lung cancer went into remission following the chemoperfusion.

The treatment introduces chemotherapy drugs directly to the tumour area.
