Revellers urged to act sensibly

Revellers in the south west of England are being urged to celebrate New Year's Eve responsibly to help avoid putting extra strain on the ambulance service.

The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust has deployed an extra 20 crews in anticipation of increased call-outs due to more people marking the new year.

It said anyone planning to go out should drink responsibly and ensure they know how to get home.

They should also dress appropriately for the cold weather, the service said.
