Armed police in fake gun response

A group of teenagers sparked an armed operation in Devon by filming themselves with fake guns for a project, police said.

Witnesses reported seeing two teenagers with weapons in the South Hill area of Plymouth on Sunday afternoon.

Police surrounded a property and the two teenagers, and another youth, were detained when they came out.

Officers found an imitation handgun and rifle inside. The teenagers were given a warning and released.

A video camera was also found in the property.

Devon and Cornwall Police said people should be warned of the "serious consequences that can arise from inappropriate use of imitation weapons".
