Fire crews save cow stuck in bog

Firefighters in south Devon spent several hours struggling to rescue a cow which had become stuck up to its neck in a bog.

A farmer, his tractor, a vet and three fire crews worked together to free the animal on Saturday.

Using a cow net and mud mats the animal was eventually released from the marshy grassland near Brixham.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "The cow is recovering after its ordeal."
